Weekend Links: 05

Hi all!

April has come and gone, and it seems like I talk about where the time's gone each time I write a new "Weekend Links" post (oops). April was a busy month for Oxford Patina, partly because of our trip to Japan, but also largely due to prepping for and vending at "Downtown Modernism". It was our first time selling there, and I'd like to thank everyone who stopped by our booth to say hi! Meeting and being able to gush with people who love chairs as much as we do was a great way to spend a Sunday morning. Also, all that furniture talk that day really hit home that there's always something new to learn in the world of Mid Century (and contemporary) furniture, and it definitely fueled my fire to keep seeking and learning new things. Here's some things I found this week:

1. These spaces by Olivia Bossy look so serene.

2. This list about Ray Eames really shines a spotlight on how underappreciated and obscured she was throughout her career.

3. The bright but subtle pops of color in these rooms by Azzedine Alaïa are amazing.

4. These contemporary pieces by Moving Mountains have the best minimalist vibes.

5. Looking at the paintings and sculptures of Henri Laurens make me fall in love with Cubism all over again.

6. The twists and curves of this home by Savin Couelle gives the rooms a sense of movement.

7. Loved digitally flipping through this design magazine from 1971.

8. This is a great article about Barbara Hepworth - an artist whose sculptural forms I love.

9. I’m becoming a big fan of this up-and-coming furniture designer, Ini Archibong’s work - can’t wait to see where his career takes him.

10. In an era where more people are leaning towards the words “zero waste”, I love to see what designers are doing to make that happen. My latest searches found this Korean design firm that uses marble cast offs to create these stunning pieces.
