Shibayama Factory Bamboo Armchair

This extremely rare chair was handcrafted in the early 1900s by skilled Japanese craftsmen in the Shibayama Factory of Nagoya, Japan. This chair was vital in Charlotte Perriand’s study of Japanese design during her trip to Japan that inspired her line of bamboo furniture in the 1940s.
